Statue of Ahmose-Nefertari
Statue of Ahmose-Nefertari
One of the most influential and revered women in Egyptian history was Queen Ahmose-Nefertari. This wooden statuette shows her standing, with her right arm stretched along her side; the left is carried to the chest, to hold a lotus flower now lost. The color of the skin is linked to the resurrection: black is the color of the most fertile land.
New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1562-1495 BC. in the Egyptian Museum of Turin.
